Republicans Name Themselves Followers of Nzhdeh, but Act like Neoliberals

Whether political parties keep initiative movements away from them or there are internal reasons for demarcation line between activists and politicians. Participants of eco-educational summer camp in Teghout reason about this topic: public activists Gor Hakobyan, Hrayr Savzyan, Arthur Grigoryan and journalist Zhanna Sargsyan.

Zhanna Sargsyan: How much can Armenian National Congress or other political parties cause damage to the public so as you took measures against ANC?

Gor Hakobyan: Originally we put it like this: civic initiatives, in their essence, are political movements, all inherent processes are political process. We don’t give up this thesis even now and think this is the right course, meanwhile we always outline these movements are out of any party, i.e. the political power can’t enter the movement, When there were such attempts, we told them if you want to, you can join as persons, citizen, activists, no problem in this regard. But if you want to lead the process as a political power, there will be an appropriate response.

What about the ANC, both the ANC and Heritage are those political parties, which maintain ties with civic public unlike other ruling parties and authorities, which are completely far from people…

Hrayr Savzyan: Activists don’t have sufficient political knowledge and political education, many treat political decisions, political-environmental decisions suspiciously, I mean activists. In my opinion, this is a negative phenomenon, which should be overcome.

It would be good, if a new political power would be established, a new one, as I can’t see this power in existing parties.

Artur Grigoryan: If we consider the question in normal political plane, political support can be a normal phenomenon, but in fact, political field doesn’t resemble a political field..

 - What it resembles?

Artur Grigoryan:  This is not a field, but a situation where political forces act spontaneously without a certain ideology. That is, there is no such an ideology where you can say it’s mine and follow it. Everything is mixed up. For example, the Republicans call themselves followers of Nzhdeh, but act like neoliberals… We are doing our business and would try to interact with political powers, this resource should be used.
