Dalma Garden Land owners remind the Armenian President who is back from the holiday about their problems. On 31 August the land owners once again held a protest demonstration at 26 Baghramyan in front of the president’s seat. Their demands are as follows: to compensate for gardens taken from them, to ensure proper irrigation for the green zone, to take measures not to allow the gardens to lose in the construction dust of new speedy highway linking Tsovakal Isakov and Leningradyan streets.
“The Mayor clearly mentioned that he will exercise special control over the irrigation process. Among several such territories he particularly mentioned Dalma Gardens, but we know for sure that enormous territories in Dalma Gardens, green trees and vegetation, already dry out because of not having water,” said “Dalma-Sona” Fund Chairman Ruzanna Kazaryan in her conservation with “EcoLur”.
Under Dalma Gardens land owners, about 156 ha of the gardens have been privatized, and only 30-35 ha green zone has been left.
“Come and see dried out trees, tree fruit, gardens and other territories. How such a orchard, full of different fruit, can be destroyed.”
… There is about 30-35 ha of green territory, which currently has problems with irrigation water, plus dust due to speedy highway construction, watering takes place only in the morning in little amounts, then trees stay in dust for about 10 hours.
…According to special statistical official data, the amount of dust in Yerevan already exceeds the standard by three times. It’s the official figure, not already to mention what are the real figures. Not irrigating green zones together with this dust is just a crime,” complain Dalma Garden land owners.
