The territory of Yerevan physics institute is cleaned from vegetation. The residents of the camp have beaten an alarm signal about mass felling (see slide-show https://picasaweb.google.com/110156801589035265743/New?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCIWUjYqj0YHPRA&feat=directlink). “We phoned the environmental inspection and urban development ministry, but we didn’t receive any clear answer. We also got in touch with Chief Dendrologist of Yerevan, without whom it’s impossible to carry out any felling in the territory of Yerevan. Deputy Head replied to us that a medical center should be constructed in the territory. EcoLur managed to find out that the center is being constructed for the implementation of project on obtaining radionuclides. Radionuclides will be mainly used for diagnostic purposes, but treatment purposes are not also excluded. Reminder: the fate of Yerevan Physics Institute, one of the most powerful research centers worldwide, has been worrying the scientific society for several years. Leading scientists were willing to deal with the fate of the institute, but they didn’t receive Ex Economics Ministry Nerses Yeritsyan’s agreement. The process of turning Yerevan Physics Institute into an international center was stopped. At present, Yerevan Physics Institute still remains in the system of the ministry. Who stands behind the construction of the medical center, we didn’t manage to find out.”
