Tsovagyugh Village is famous for its fish industry in whole Sevan. Now when there is no fish in the lake, about 800 villagers, mainly the youth, left for Russia in search of a living, out of them 400 have already taken the children to live with them. “No water, no food and no people… Even with water everything is bad. Our drinking water comes from Aytsemnasar. When quakes occurred in Turkey and then In Georgia, water turned out to come less. Probable it flew out through the cracks…When the privatization was in progress and the village needed to be helped and to give loan at low interest. While loans are given to us at 21-22 interest, but in reality, they costs us 24% per year. All we have to pay interests; they borrow from each other and pay off our loans. Some people borrow to leave for Russia, then come back and spend all the money spent, again take loans from banks and again leave the country. But who is interested in all this? Nobody. The Northern Avenue has been constructed, where there are not even a couple of residents and doors are closed…” Tsovagyugh villagers say. Ex Village Head Gevorg Tovmasyan added, “We founded this village and came up to Lake Sevan. What do we have here, besides Sevan? If to tell the truth, nothing. Winter lasts here for 9 months, now we don’t even have fish. We also should be blamed for this – we caught the fish mercilessly…No other activities…Only this year 1000 young people left the village, and out of them 400 have already taken their children with them, out of 4300 people.”
