Nature Protection Ministry Confirms Yerevan Recognized Mine Affected Zone

EcoLur

In reply letter to EcoLur signed by “Environmental Expertise” SNCo Head Andranik Gevorgyan Nature Protection Ministry confirms that Yerevan has been recognized as mine affected zone. Reminder: EcoLur’s enquiry referred to the activities of “Gaj” and “Gajegorts” companies developing Jrvezh mines of gypsiferous clay and basalt and Saritagh mine of  gypsiferous clay.

The letter says that Yerevan is recognized as a project affected community in the project submitted by “Gajegorts” CJSC for environmental impact expert assessment. Yerevan Municipality was informed via a letter, while the public hearings were held on 17 July, which complies with RA Law “On Environmental Impact Expert Assessment”. What about Jrvezh project submitted by “Gaj” Company, the public hearings were held in Jrvezh village, but they also may be held in Yerevan, as a project affected community. It should be noted that the Ministry reply doesn’t have the minutes of the public hearings attached, as EcoLur’s enquiry asked for.  There is also no information about dust overload of the mines to be developed.
