Government Intends to Plant Forest in Sevan, but Money Not Allocated from Budget

EcoLur

The government intends to approve the draft decision on planting forest in Sevan. Nevertheless, there won’t be any funding from the budget for this purpose. Recently, EcoLur covered this project displayed on the website of Nature Protection Ministry. The project has undergone substantial changes, in the former project the state budget was mentioned as a source of budget. The new version mentions funding is due to the funding by international funds and organizations. In accordance with the project, 1113.2 ha of forest should be planted. Reminder: around 4000 ha of territory should be cleaned from forests as a result of increasing Lake Sevan level, i.e. this project plans to recover 27% of forests.
