The official website of the Police informs that Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan tabled three questions in the course of his visit to Gegharkounik region: illegal gold mining, illegal forest felling and fish poaching in Sevan. The Police Chief outlined that the fight is waged not against the population, but against forest destruction and for the recovery of fish reserves in Sevan. “One of the main problems is the fight against illegal gold mining, when several people, not taking into consideration the risks of getting chokes in the gallery, send people, so called “bats” mainly young people to steal gold,” Vladimir Gasparyan said.
