Water is the main problem for Meghri residents. They don’t always get water, which is of poor quality. The new mayor Arshavir Hovhannisyan considers one of the main tasks to improve water supply, particularly the supply of clean water. “Meghri gets water, which doesn’t comply with any standards. The black oil flows inside the pipes, but only a specialist can say, why it happens. But it’s a fact that water is dirty. Construction works have been carried out, nevertheless, the quality has only deteriorated afterwards. I think that the black oil flows from the station itself. We had to change the pipelines. Meghri is a water-short region, and here we experience huge problems with water. There are three watercourses which need to be reconstructed. If the loss of water is fixed with ordinary people, they are fined. I don’t know who should be fined in this case…People have been deprived of so many things, they will be happy, if they are just given some water…”
