In December 2012, when outcomes are summed up and people prepare for the holidays and bad weather, mining companies have become more active and hold a number of public hearings on new opencast mines, expansion of existing mines with the use of cyanic technologies. Eight public hearings have been appointed from 1 to 20 December 2012:

5 December – public hearings on the project of gold extraction plant with the use of cyanic technologies in Meghradzor Village, Kotayk Region,

6 December – public hearings on the project of producing mineral waters and freshwater by “Ararat Group” Company in Artashat Town, Ararat Region,

7 December – public hearings on the project of expanding Jrezh mine of gypsiferous ores amd basalt by “Gaj” Company in Jrvezh Village, Kotayk Region,

13 December – public hearings on the project of basalt mine development by “Chor Zor” Company in Angeghakot Village, Syunik Region,

14 December – public hearings on the amended project of Shamlukh copper and pyritic  mine by “Akhtala Ore Processing Combine” in Shamlukh Village, Lori Region,

17 December – public hearings on on the construction project of a cyanic plant by Meghradzor Gold Company in Meghradzor Village,   Kotayk Region,

18 December – public hearings on Aygedzor copper and molybdenum mine development (Tghkut area) by “Tatsun” LLC in Vanadzor Village, Syunik Region.

It should be noted that the companies are in such a hurry, that don’t manage to display their projects in the website of Nature Protection Ministry in a proper manner, i.e. the link to the project exists, but the project itself doesn’t. It’s unclear why Nature Protection Ministry agrees to such dates, which, under the Aarhus Convention, is committed to ensure comprehensive public participation in the public hearings.
