Nature Protection Minister thinks the main achievements of 2012 in environment are the foundation of “Arpi Litch” National Park, passportization of natural monuments, particularly Trchkan waterfall and the launch of wide-scale program on elimination of expired and toxic pesticides and persistent organic pollutants. “This year works were carried in the amount of 10 million AMD for the passportization of 24 natural monuments,” the Minister said. But he spoke less in-detailed about oversights. “I would like to have 250 ha of Sevan shores cleaned instead of 110 ha, to have more proper financial funds for that…”
In 2013 the Ministry intends to continue its work with expired pesticides. The Global Environment Fund has already allotted funds through the UNDP for this purpose. Hydrogeological studies will also be carried out in Ararat Valley. “In recent 20 years no hydrogeological studies have been carried out and we intend to solve the problem of water reserves next year,” the Minister said. In conclusion Aram Harutyunyan congratulated all with upcoming 2013 year and said, “Let all our shortcomings and failures remain in 2012, while 2013 will be a year of nature protection, new programs, new opportunities and new relationships…I speak honestly, every day I got out of temper…I always listen to, even if it’s a mistake, I listen to the very end and tackle it…We should be more tolerant to each other, so as our country be on the right track…” he said.
