On December 25 “EcoLur” received an alarm signal that tree felling was carried out in Paros forest. The alarm beater was Zara Haroyan, who wrote, “Huge volumes of tree felling are carried out in Paros forest…more specifically, in front of the building at 82 Malatia Sebastia Street. Please, respond, otherwise there won’t be any forest left.” In this regard, “EcoLur” filed an application to Yerevan Municipality asking to inform to what extent the tree felling is legal and what the purpose of tree felling was, how many trees was cut down and who this territory belongs to. In reply Information and Public Relations Department of Yerevan Municipality Staff informed, that “the territory in question is located next to the aforementioned park, beyond the green zone and is owned by site developer Sh. Mkrtchyan.” The Environmental Department of the Staff has issued a permit to cut down three elm trees. The spot examination didn’t reveal other traces of tree felling (stubs). The documents prescribed by law for the construction are available.”
It should be mentioned that there are rumours this territory factually belongs to MP Samvel Aleksanyan.
