MP from the Republican Party Samvel Farmanyan promised to protect the interests of Nork 7 Masiv. The MP promised to do so at the protest demonstration held by the residents in Masiv 7 on 24 January.
Still from the 70’s people have been beautified and greened this territory, built houses and have many times applied to the Municipality asking for permission to privatize these territories. However, under local resident Nara Yesayan, the Yerevan Municipality has turned down their proposal for different reasons saying these territories belong either to the forestry enterprise or the Agriculture Ministry. But in 2012 “Agroholding” company representatives visited them and said that the company is the owner of these territories and the residents should free it. Getting aware of the problem, MP Samvel Farmanyan said, “I know this problem very surfacely, but I can say it’s not about public eminent domain, therefore, the interests of our citizen and their legitimate right are a priority. I, as the deputy of the National Assembly, will stand for the protection of citizens’ rights.”
As residents’ barrister Armine Harutyunyan told EcoLur, the Municipality has allotted a territory of 2.8 ha to “Agroholding” company. The company has called upon to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Avan Nor Norq Administrative Area to evict all 12 families from the territory and to dismantle the house for the purpose of construction a stone-cutting plant.
The first hearings were not held, while the second hearing will be held tomorrow at 14:00 on 30 January. In their turn, the residents have applied to the Administrative Court of Armenia to appeal the decisions of the Yerevan Municipality.
Nara Yesayan told EcoLur, “We have received a reply from the cadastre that “Agroholding” company still has to pay for 4.3 ha so far, while it makes up 192 million AMD.” It should be mentioned that the representatives of “Agroholding” company were not present at the protest demonstration. The representatives of the Human Rights Defender also came to listen to the residents’ complaints, who learnt the problem and gave their contact numbers to the residents.
