The international environmental community opposed to the activities of the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Mongolia. The statement circulated through international social networks says, “You can help to stop the hazard Mongolia faces.”
The World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development should solve the issue of funding gold and copper mines in Gobi desert, which can make income of billion dollars. Nevertheless, in the current format the project will destroy the whole environment, will eliminate sources of living for the locals. We should convince the banks to take measures for project improvement, including measures on the protection of climate, biodiversity and water for people, which heavily rely on these resources.
