The government agenda for the meeting on 7 March includes an item of approving the draft law “On Site Development of Yerevan Downtown”. We present the part of the draft law on the green zones and architecture in Yerevan:
“33. For the preservation, improvement and expansion of public green territories, as well as taking into consideration the fact that the land reserves needed for the expansion of such territories in Yerevan Downtown it’s planned:
1) to separate subzones for the preservation of natural complex in the capital in the special regulation zones and adjacent buffer zones setting up special preservation and planning regimes for them.
2) to include the public green zones in the territories of “Kentrom”, “Davitashen”, “Ajapnyak” and “Arabkir” administrative areas located in Hrazdan Gorge, as well as other territories used with this purpose in the special regulation zone.
3) to stipulate a provision in the draft law for the classification system fo green territory types by the Armenian Government prescribing proper criteria for the site development of each type.
36. The establishment and encouraging of “Green” architecture is rather topical for the densely developed environment of “Yerevan Downtown”, where each green territory unit is highly appreciated.
