The Expert of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Nature Protection and Agriculture Hermine Poghosyan responded to the article published by EcoLur entitled “Ban on Construction of SHPs in Sevan Basin Not Included in Governmental Proposal Package”. On Facebook she posted it was misinformation, while in the telephone conversation with EcoLur she noted, “The draft law on making amendments to RA Law ‘On Lake Sevan’, though it was not discussed, but it was included on the agenda for the parliament” and made a reference to the official website of the parliament. When we examines the information displayed on the website, EcoLur found out that the draft law was introduced on 20.06.2012 and was included on four-day agenda of the parliament on 10.09.2012, i.e. the draft law hasn’t been considered for already 7 months. Apparently the government has forgotten about it, as in February 2013 the Nature Protection Ministry held specialized hearings on the construction project of “Daranak” SHP on the Dara River, which flows into Lake Sevan. Reminder: the fate of another draft law “Making Amendments to RA Law “On Lake Sevan” was completely different. The government made a proposal about unprecedented increase in water outlets from Sevan from 14 June, and already on 22 June the National Assembly adopted this bill in its second reading.
