On March 29 starting from 11:45 the environmental activists will be holding a protest demonstration in front of Arabkir and Qanaqer-Zeytoun General Jurisdiction Court (address: Tbilisyan Alley, next to Light Bulb Factory) in support of environmental activist Yeghis Nersisyan.
Reminder: Deno Gold Mining Company, the developer of Shahumyan gold-polymetallic mine, sued environmentalist Yeghia Nersisyan and accused him of slander. The court hearing will start at 12:00 on 29 March.
“The goal of this demonstration is:
1. To show that Yeghia told the truth, as atmosphere of fear reign in Armenia, but villagers are afraid of voicing about it.
2. To show ALL mining companies we won’t tolerate any pressure on activists.
…If you have suffered or are suffering from the activities of mining companies, write out your problem on the poster and join us. Let us join and show all mining companies we won’t tolerate any pressure on activists and we oppose to converting Armenia into a mine. Join us from regions, close and remote villages and hit the mining,” says the statement of the activists.
