The Prosperous Armenia Party has presented its environmental program for the elections of Aldermen’s Council to be held on 5 May 2013. Among other problems they focused on the state of Hrazdan Gorge and Yerevan Lake.
“For improvement of the environmental state in Yerevan it’s necessary:
•setting special environmental regime over certain areas of the capital
•introduction of special use regime in the recovered ecosystem areas in the capital for the purpose of urban development
•the elimination of environmentally hazardous and harmful productions and their compliance to current environmental requirements.
The solution of economic and environmental problems in Armenia for balance preservation requires the improvement of legal and normative fields, their compliance to the requirements of the tome by implementing a complex of measures.
Management of Solid and Household Wastes Remains Serious Problem
An effective management system of garbage collection and recycling should be formed, a part of which is the construction and service of contemporary garbage recycling enterprise.
One of the main problems is creating proper conditions for Yerevan residents to organize their rest, particularly the environmental state and infrastructure of the gorge of Hrazdan River should be improved, to carry out works for the preservation of ecological state of Yerevan Lake, to make the surface of green zones in the capital at least one square meter for one person. The developed communal economy in the capital can’t be imagined without improvement of yards, asphalt cover and 100% lighting.”
