In 2012 Armenia produced 8 billion 36 million 200 thousand kilowatt/hour power. The contribution of Armenian nuclear power plant made up 28%, that of thermal power station – 42%, while the contribution of the renewable energy – 30%. It’s interesting that all operating 144 SHPPs produces 570 million kW/h or 6.5%, i.e. less than Sevan-Hrazdan cascade, which produces 632 million 300 thousand kW/h, not mentioning Vorotan Cascade, which produces 1 billion 118 million 800 thousand kW/h. It should be noted that 20% of all the produced power is sold to other countries.
Energy and Natural Resources Ministry Renewable Energy Department Head Daniel Stepanyan presented these figures at the working meeting on SHPPs organized by German-Armenian Fund.
