Control and Corruption

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan’s intention to abolish the institute of state control over business entities in the form of inspection and establishing a new body is causing more and more concerns. The government doesn’t officially declare about it yet, but this information is actively discussed in the press and governmental bodies. It doesn’t matter what kind of functions will be prescribed to this new organ, but nobody has canceled professionalism.

The practice of the countries in transition showed that winding up any governmental body is full of negative consequences, loss of responsibility and accountability. Particularly it’s unclear how the methodology of checks will work when combining different inspections, which is used to determine violations; it requires professional knowledge and experience.

What about corruption in the inspections, which is top officials’ favourite topic of discussions, it can be proposed that the government intends to concentrate corruption in one face and to “combat” it in this way.
