“Arev&Jur” LLC is planning to construct "Kaputjugh" SHHP (length-8630 m) on the Kaputjugh tributary to the Voghji River in “Zangezour” state reserve included in "Zangezour Biospheric Complex". From the viewpoint of administrative belonging, the infrastructure of the SHPP will be located within the borders of Qajaran rural and Qajaran urban communities, thus occupying an area of 0.384 ha.

Under the project, there are several red-listed species in the area. The construction of the SHPP on the Kaputjugh brooklet may have adversary impact:

1. Reduction in water flow during SHPP development may significantly change the river ecosystem, while over-standard water intake may cause essential damage.

2.  Possible impacts on the river ecosystem may be expressed in:

·         Violation of self-cleaning regimes,

·         Change in local fish habitat, nutrition, spawning and reproduction

·         Pollution of river water with substance, items and oil products.

"The materials displayed in this section were  developed in the frames of “Supporting reforms in the sector of small hydro power plants through enabling a dialogue between civil society  and the Ministry  of Nature Protection for sustainable use of river ecosystems” supported by UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme".
