From February 1, 2022, the energy market will be liberalized. According to Chair of Public Services Regulatory Commission, the process goes slowly to avoid problems.
With the new changes, the consumer will be able to choose which producer to buy electricity from. As a result, in addition to the electricity networks of Armenia, there will be new companies supplying electricity.
Garegin Baghramyan: “ENA has a natural monopoly and exclusive rights, in this case the sale is not exclusive, and the supply companies may have groups of consumers, the prices of which will not be decided by the commission”.
5 companies have already applied for a supplier company license. The change will not affect the price, says the PSRC Chair Baghramyan, however, does not rule out that due to a number of other factors, there will be an increase in electricity tariffs.
