Arabic "Masdar" Increasing Its Presence in Renewable Energy in Armenia

RA President Armen Sargsyan met in Abu Dhabi with the Chief Executive Officer of "Masdar" company Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi. Stressing that the investment program for the construction of a 200-megawatt photovoltaic power plant in the field of renewable energy in Armenia with Masdar is the first step of mutually beneficial cooperation, President Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the agreement reached on the 200-megawatt power plant, as the official website of RA President informs.

The participants also considered the opportunities for large-scale investments in the field of wind energy in Armenia.

In 2019, the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved "MASDAR ARMENIA PROGRAM" investment program. "MASDAR ARMENIA PROGRAM" was initiated by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) founded in the United Arab Emirates and Armenia National Interest Fund established by the Government of Armenia.

The companies intend to build two solar photovoltaic stations on a total of 1,040 hectares of land in Aragatsotn and Kotayk Regions, each with a capacity of 200 MW. The cost of electricity generated by power plants is set at 2.95 US cents / kWh (excluding VAT) per 1 kWh. For the construction and operation of the stations, it is planned to establish a joint venture, where ANIF will have a 15% share and Masdar will have 85%.
