Energy and Climate Sector in Armenia on "EU4Dialogue" Platform

Between November 28 and December 1, 2022, the second meeting of "Energy Transition Dialogue Platform" was held in the Georgian city Borjomi within the framework of "EU4Dialogue" project, which was attended by specialists, civil society representatives from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Azerbaijan. The delegates of the countries presented the problems, challenges and opportunities of the transition to sustainable energy in the region, shared the best practices applied in the field of renewable energy in their countries, and the reforms implemented in the energy system.

Kristina Ter-Matevosyan, journalist of "EcoLur" Informational NGO, presented the situation regarding Armenia's energy and climate, existing gaps, risks and problems. "The socio-ecological component is weakly represented in Armenia's energy and climate policy. A balanced approach is desirable, considering the benefits and the harm caused, which can lead to the introduction of a culture of social and environmental practice in the energy and climate policy of the Republic of Armenia," she noted.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to expand regional cooperation, outline the long-term goals of the energy dialogue and promote the exchange of experience in the field of sustainable energy among a wide range of stakeholders.
