The opening of "Ahnidzor" guest house took place in Ahnidzor settlement of Tumanyan community, Lori Region, Armenia. This is the first guest house in Ahnidzor with "Artist's House" concept. The guest house building was the home of the Armenian artist Khachik Gharabekyan. It was rebuilt at the initiative of Ahnidzor resident Aram Matevosyan.
The reconstruction of the guest house was supported by LILA project, which is implemented by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Armenia office in cooperation with "Strategic Development Agency" (SDA) NGO. It is funded by the Swiss government through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
"After acquiring this house in 2015, the idea was to build a guest house where art and nature will merge, and visitors will have the opportunity to create and receive art therapy. I am sure that this guest house will breathe new life into the life of the village with its format," Aram Matevosyan noted.
"This is a unique project where different structures cooperate and bring to life similar ideas, such as this guest house. It is the result not only of good work, but also of persistence. Thank you to all parties for implementing this project," Deputy Regional Director of Swiss Cooperation South Caucasus Ursula Läubli outlined.
Alla Ghazaryan, SDA Project Coordinator, noted that the purpose of the economic component of LILA project is to support the residents of the target regions to improve their economic conditions through sustainable and inclusive tourism.
"A lot of forests have been cut down here, there has been poaching. If we manage to protect forests and community areas together, the fauna and flora will be restored, which is directly related to the social development of the local population and the development of tourism," Karen Manvelyan, Director of WWF Armenia noted.
