The capital city of Yerevan will see the construction or reconstruction of 38 public buildings, as well as the implementation of works aimed at seismic modernization and improving energy efficiency. Out of these buildings, 32 are kindergartens and 6 are polyclinics. The measures will be carried out within the framework of the second phase of "Yerevan Energy Efficiency Project." The cost of the second phase of the project makes up 37.1 million Euros, out of which 25 million Euros is a loan from the European Investment Bank, 10.1 million Euros is a grant from the Neighborhood Investment Platform, and 2 million Euros is co-financing from Yerevan Municipality. These are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and approximately 275 million AMD will be saved annually from electricity and gas expenses.
Recently, the results of the first phase of the project were presented during a round table on "Energy Efficiency Projects Implemented and Planned in Yerevan." The works carried out in 14 kindergartens in Yerevan within the framework of the project were discussed, drawbacks were recorded, and suggestions were gathered from the direct beneficiaries of the kindergartens, which will be considered during the implementation of the second phase of the project. Within the framework of the first phase of the project, photovoltaic systems and solar water heaters are being installed in 47 public buildings, and energy infrastructure is being modernized. Out of the 47 buildings, 36 are kindergartens, 9 are healthcare and medical institutions, and 2 are cultural centers. The directors of the kindergartens presented issues related to the maintenance of energy infrastructure, whereas the representatives of Yerevan Municipality inventoried the problems.
