Proposal to Expand Scope and Volume of Electricity Sellers

Proposal to Expand Scope and Volume of Electricity Sellers

Members of the National Assembly of Armenia, Tsovinar Vardanyan and Arusyak Manavazyan, have proposed amendments and additions to the Law on Energy.

In 2018, the gradual liberalization of the electricity market and the transition to a new market model began.

The MPs propose allowing electricity producers operating in small hydropower plants built on natural water flow, as well as solar and wind power plants, to voluntarily forgo their electricity purchase guarantee within the next two years and enter the competitive market without the right to restore that guarantee.

The draft law has received a positive assessment.
