There will be a large forest park in Yerevan Botanical Garden commemorating the victims of all Artsakh wars, as Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan stated this today during a Q&A session at Yerevan Aldermen’s Council answering the question raised by “My Step" faction member Satenik Mkrtchyan.
Mkrtchyan first said that recently various citizens, including members of the victims' families, have been applying for the general memorial commemorating the soldiers.
"The project already exists: it is a forest-park, which should be in the part of the Botanical Garden in the territory of Yerevan," Hayk Marutyan detailed.
Mayor also said that the idea came as a result of discussions with the parents of the killed servicemen, their relatives and a number of citizens concerned about these issues.
The project will be implemented jointly with the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
Works began several months ago. From the beginning it was decided to establish a large forest-park, where the memory of the victims of the 44-day war will be immortalized. Later, upon the suggestion of the Government, a decision was reached to increase it and make it commemorating our sisters and brothers who died in the four-day Artsakh war and the first heroic battle. Some processes are underway, but I want the public to learn at least something about the works to be implemented.”
