Preliminary investigation of the criminal case carried out under Article 314, Part 1 and Article 315, Part 2 of RA Criminal Code, on 8 officials of Stepanavan forestry of "ArmForest" SNCO has been completed (2 foresters, 2 foresters, 1 senior forester, 1 forest protection engineer, 2 forest technicians).
The mentioned officials were accused of showing dishonest and negligent attitude towards the service, they did not pay visits to four sections in the area of Gyulagarak forestry enterprise, did not find or register illegally felled trees. In addition, they made false reports that illegal logging was not detected.
Meanwhile, as a result of a later inspection in those areas, 619 illegally cut trees with different diameters were found, as a result of which the fauna and flora incurred a particularly large amount of damage, amounting to 12,258,000 AMD.
The indictment was confirmed by the prosecutor: the criminal case against 8 persons was sent to the first instance court of Lori Region for the examination on the merits.
In total, a total of 16 criminal cases were filed against 19 individuals for illegal logging due to negligent performance of their duties by forestry officials "ArmForest" SNCO forestry branches in 2021, as we learn from the official website of RA Prosecutor's Office.
