Vayots Dzor Regional Municipality has sued the Aldermen’s Councils of Jermuk and Yeghegnadzor. The Regional Municipality demands from RA Administrative Court to annul the decisions of the Aldermen’s Councils on turning Jermuk, Yeghegnadzor communities into eco-economic territory and banning metal mining in the communities. The claim against the decision No. 88 of the Aldermen’s Councils of Jermuk dated on 18.12.2018 to be declared invalid was filed on November 14, and the claim against the decision No. 45 of the Aldermen’s Council of Yeghegnadzor dated 23.05.2019 to be declared invalid was filed on November 11. The lawsuits were filed under newly-elected governor Ararat Grigoryan, who was a lawyer in the criminal case of beating that led to Vayots Dzor Regional Governor Trdat Sargsyan's resignation. Prior to this, Vayots Dzor Regional Municipality also sued the councils of the communities of Areni and Gladzor for making their communities an eco-economic area and for banning metal mining in the community. It should be reminded that petitions addressed to the councils with the signatures of 3,000 Jermuk residents, 2868 Areni residents, 2,500 Yeghegnadzor residents and 2152 Gladzor inhabitants of on the prohibition of metal mining in their communities served as a basis for such decisions.
