

The World Bank will provide a $ 500,000 grant to Armenia to support the ongoing implementation of the Republic of Armenia's international commitments undertaken within EITI and maintain the membership status of the country.
On June 10, the Executive approved the draft decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia on approving the draft letter-agreement "Additional Financing to Support the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Armenia" (Grant N TF0B4808) signed on May 17, 2021 between the World Bank and the Republic of Armenia.
The new grant envisages:
Integration of the systematic disclosure approach of the EITI two national reports data
Legal assistance to the first ratification report and establishing a legal environment for corrective actions based on the EITI national reports and responding to legislative recommendations and systematic disclosure.
· Capacity building for the Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) overseeing the implementation process of the EITI, as well as for relevant government ministries, other government agencies, the Audit Chamber, the National Assembly, affected communities, civil society organizations, and research institutions:
· Capacity-building specialized works for the Audit Chamber so that it is ready to assume the role of Independent Administrator in the EITI context.
· Strengthening public participation in issues related to socio-economic and environmental impacts in the mining sector in the communities.
· Development of awareness-raising strategy, including dissemination of information through social networks, interviews and TV and radio reports to raise public awareness and participate in an informed dialogue.
This grant is a continuation of 2018 World Bank Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Support Program. Thanks to the $ 350,000 provided within the program, a number of works have been carried out in 2018-2020.
