On June 5, President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the founding CEO of the Armenian-Canadian AGAPE company Graeme Johnson and company representatives Suren Sarkisov and Nerses Karamanukyan.
The company is engaged in exploration of oil and gas reserves in the territory of Armenia.
The guests presented details of the company's activities to the President of the Republic of Armenia.
During the discussion, the sides touched upon issues related to mining and environmental protection and the solutions offered by AGAPE company to address them.
Currently, "AGAPE" is the only gas and oil exploration company in Armenia. On its official website, "AGAPE" states that "it is pushing forward to discover potentially large reserves in Armenia."
The territory of Armenia is divided into 6 conditional blocks for oil and gas exploration. In 2012, "Integral Petroleum" LLC started looking for black gold and blue fuel in the 2nd conditional block.
In 2013, "Armoil" company received permission for exploration works in the 1st and 3rd, partial 5th and 6th conditional blocks. In 2015, "Blacksters Energy Armenia" LLC began to search for oil and gas in the 4th, 5th and 6th conditional blocks in the Sevan basin. In 2017, the search for oil and gas reserves became more active in Armenia.
"Tashir Capital" CJSC appeared in this field through "Armenian Oil and Gas Company" LLC. The company received permission to search for oil and gas in the 1st and 3rd conditional blocks, also in the 2nd conditional block.
In 2017, the then newly established Armenian-Canadian company "AGAPE" (Armenian Gas and Power Enterprises Inc.) also appeared and received permission to conduct oil and gas exploration activities in the 5th conditional block in Vayots Dzor Region in 2017-2022. In 2019, the company received a positive conclusion for oil and gas exploration until 2024 in the 6th conditional block in the Kapan community, Syunik Region.
In recent years, the Armenian government has been pursuing a policy aimed at reducing the carbon footprint. This is the policy that the advanced world is striving for in fighting climate change, one of the major challenges of the 21st century. Within the framework of this policy, investments are planned especially in the field of "green" energy and in giving up carbon fuels.
