Teqsar’s Dilemma: Mine or Life? EcoLur’s New Video

Teqsar Mountain is located in Vayots Dzor region. It is an important source of irrigation and drinking water for several communities in the region. Gladzor polymetallic mine is also located here, containing lead, cadmium, copper, zinc, and sulfur in its depths.

In the vicinity of Teqsar, people are engaged in agriculture, raising livestock, and cultivating grapes. Local residents, representatives of civil society, and local government officials are convinced that if the mine is developed, the waters will be poisoned, and the surrounding environment will be polluted. For several years, they have been fighting against mining companies to prevent the mine development.

In order to prevent the mine development, an initiative group called "Against Exploration, Extraction, and Development of Gladzor Polymetallic Mine" has been established in Yeghegnadzor Community.

All of this is addressed in EcoLur’s video entitled "Teqsar’s Dilemma: Mine or Life?"

The video was produced with financial support from the Media Initiatives Center as part of “Expanding Production of Independent Content” grant project.
