“Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine” (ZCMC) CJSC has submitted a claim to the Syunik Region General Jurisdiction Court against its former employees Tigran Atayan, Vahe Mkhitaryan, Vahe Babajanyan, Shavarsh Margaryan, Gor Babajanyan, Karen Arshakyan, Karen Andreasayan, and Artur Babajanyan, who participated in the strike during January-February 2025.
The company is demanding that the sum of 4,758,480,000 (four billion seven hundred fifty-eight million four hundred eighty thousand) AMD be jointly and severally recovered from them in favor of “ZCMC” CJSC as compensation for damage caused to the Company.
In addition, to recover from the defendants 25,000,000 (twenty-five million) AMD as the amount of the previously paid state duty, as well as the amount of a reasonable attorney's fee – 2,500,000 (two million five hundred thousand) AMD.
The court has accepted the claim for proceedings (Court Case No.: SD/0215/02/25).
The attorney representing the rights and interests of a group of employees who participated in the strike at ZCMC CJSC, Hrayr Khachatryan, posted on his Facebook page: “with the court case, liens have been placed on the property owned by the defendants by right of ownership—except for monetary funds and bank accounts.”
Reminder: starting from January 31, 2025, hundreds of employees of ZCMC CJSC began a protest action and did not go to work. They were demanding an increase in wages and improvement of working conditions. ZCMC CJSC and the ZCMC CJSC Trade Union characterize the employees’ actions as "illegal actions."
On February 10, the company released an official statement promising changes in wages and working conditions within set deadlines. The strike ended, and the above-mentioned employees were dismissed from their jobs.
According to the company, as a result of the strike, about 400 million AMD of daily damage was incurred, and the state suffered more than 100 million AMD per day in losses in the form of taxes alone.
Attorney Hrayr Khachatryan, who represents the rights and interests of a group of employees who participated in the strike at ZCMC CJSC, writes: “ZCMC also had thousands of employees who did not participate in the strike, who had the opportunity to ensure the normal operation of the company-however, all of that seems to have deliberately not been coordinated.”
