Pambak Council Gave Preliminary Consent to “Zov-Gouzh” LLC for Geological Prospecting in Qaraberd

On August 19, during an extraordinary session, Pambak Community Council, Lori Region, granted preliminary consent to the application submitted by “Zov-Gouzh” LLC. The company plans to conduct geological prospecting in the Qaraberd gold deposit with the aim of identifying potential mineral resources.

Out of the council members present, 6 voted in favor of granting preliminary consent, 4 voted against, and 3 abstained. Some council members noted that most participants at the preceding public hearings had supported the company’s proposal.

One council member emphasized that the vote did not concern the actual mine development, but only the implementation of geological studies. “It cannot cause significant damage to our lands. Besides, the risks have been assessed. Once a project is presented, we can vote against it at the next hearing if we see environmental norms are not observed. At any moment, we can tell the company to stop by closing the road,” he noted.
