The state authorities express contradicting opinions: Hrazdan Mayor’s letter dated on 12 April 2011 says that the project is in its preliminary stage, while Nature Protection Ministry environmentalists say that the project received positive environmental expert opinion in 2008, which serves as a basis for mine development.
Nature Protection Ministry Public Relations Department Employee Arevik Zatikyan informs www.hra.am, that, as a matter of fact, the term for positive opinion has expired, and the company is currently engaged with geological prospecting, which is licensed by Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.
“Afterwards, if they can ensure all the documentation needed for expert assessment, we will again permit them to operate,” Zatikyan said.
