Arjut villagers have concerns, in case the mine is developed, they will lose their pastures and land areas.

Under estimations, 3467 kg of gold can be mined from Arjut mine, as well as 20 tons of silver and 6820 tons of copper. The mine is going to be developed by ‘Paktek Eco’ company. The geoprospecting has been accomplished, now it’s turn for public discussions. The company director assured that hazardous wastes won’t be collected in Arjut, the ore will be processes in Armanis. Arjut Village Head is also sure that the community he leads won’t suffer from mine development, moreover, 50 more working places will be created.

The people in the community mainly don’t oppose to mine development, but there are people, whose houses are situated very close to the mine. Andranik Mkrtchyan’s farm is located on the spot, where the company intends to construct a road: the community residents have concerns that the road will be constructed at the expense of their pastures and land areas. In case permit is granted, the gold mine will be developed in fall.
