Akhtala Ore Dressing Combine fired 22 employees, who took part in the protest demonstration against the combine on 15 February. The cause of the protest demonstration was the decision of the new administration of “MASKO MINE” CJSC, 100% shareholder, to reduce salaries, as well as poor working conditions. As the website of “Angle Plus Three” TV informs, the combine employees also held a protest demonstration on 17 February.

«…Salaries were reduced three months ago – a salary of 100,000 AMD turned into either 70,000 or 65,000 AMD.  We were told orally that we will get this 25% as a bonus incase of plan performance, and eventually, we will get the same salary.  The plan has been performed, but no bonus of 25% has been paid.

…. I work in the mine and used to get a salary of 112,000 AMD. Now, if bonuses are not paid, I get 85,000 AMD working in the mine, which includes pay for harmfulness. If this pay is not calculated, my salary will make up 54,000 AMD, which is too low.

They say they have to operate air conditioning system and to pay utilities, as well as prices for engine are high. How did we used to work in the past?...

Reminder: the company intends the construct a new tailing dump in the administrative area of Mets Ayrum community. At the public hearings on the tailing dump construction held on 12 February, Akhtala Ore Dressing Combine Foreign Affairs and Environmental Department Head Gagik Shahnazaryan particularly said, “God bless Mr. Maksim Hakobyan, he said not to fire anyone and let at least one family member work. Our common approach, which is also Maksim Hakobyan’s approach, is possible social support to community residents.”
