“Zangezour Biosphere Complex” is facing the challenge of mining industry. In this complex of specially protected areas of nature, the number of people wanting to deal with mining and geoprospecting works is getting more and more.
1. In 2013-2015 “Geghi Gold” Company conducted geoprospecting works in “Zangezour Biosphere Complex”, and the now the company has filed a new claim to Nature Protection Ministry to continue its works in 2015-2017.
2. At the end of 2015 “Geghi Gold” Company filed a claim for the initial environmental impact assessment of the geoprospecting works in the mine field of the Geghi river basin for 2015-2017. This mine field is also a part of “Zangezour Biosphere Complex”.
3. “Ler X” Company will be searching for copper in the certain part of “Zangezour Biosphere Complex”.
4. In 2015 “Tatstone” LLC filed a claim for the geoprospecting in Teghout section of Aygedzor copper and molybdenum mine, where some areas coincide with the areas of “Arevik” National Park.
5. “Tatstone” LLC has submitted Litchq copper mine EIA report for the environmental expertise, while Litchq open copper mine is located in a distance of 780 meters from “Arevik” National Park.
6. In 2015 “Storetrans” LLC has filed a claim for the geoprospecting of Khachqar-Paravan polymetallic mine field. The area of the geoprospecting is adjacent to “Boghaqar” section of “Zangezour Biosphere Complex” and “Arevik” National Park.
7. “AT Metals” Company already has all the permitting documents to develop Meghrasar gold mine, which is also adjacent to “Arevik” National Park.
