'Armenian Petroleum and Gas Company', which only has a history of 4 months, has submitted the second project to RA Nature Protection Ministry for the search of petroleum and gas in the territory of Armenia. The company intends to carry out prospecting works for 2018-2023 in the second conditional zones of the territory in Armenia – Yerevan City, whole Armavir and Aragatsotn Regions and partially in Ararat, Kotayq and Shirak Regions. Under the project, the total area of prospecting works will make up around 7250 km2.
There are 9 specially protected areas in the claimed area with red-listed species – Khosrov Forest, Erebuni State Reserve, Khor Virap, Mrtavardeni Sanctuary, Margahovit Sanctuary, Aragats Alpine Sanctuary, Arzakan-Meghradzor, Vordan Karmir and Hanqavan Hydrological Sanctuary.
The dates of public hearings have already been appointed in three different regions: the first hearing will be held at 11:00 on 14 February at Yeghvard Municipality building in Kotayq Region. The second public hearing will be held at 14:00 on 15 February at Ashtarak Town Municipality in Aragatsotn Region. The third public hearing will also be held on 15 February in Armavir Town Municipality in Armavir Region, at 11:30.
It should be mentioned in November 2017 Armenian Petroleum and Gas Company LLC submitted a project to carry out geological prospecting for oil and natural gas in the first and third conditional blocks of the territory of Armenia – 8775 km2 in Shirak, Lori, Tavush Regions. This project is currently undergoing environmental impact expert assessment.
Armenian Petroleum and Gas Company LLC has been established by 'Energo Invest Holding' CJSC in October 2017. The only shareholder of 'Energo Invest Holding' CJSC is 'Hrazdan Energy Organization' OJSC, which is 100% owned by 'Tashir Capital' CJSC.
