Another Gold Mine Opened

Another gold mine has been opened for development. The public hearings of the project submitted by “ASSAT” LLC on the development of the central part of Qaraberd gold mine will be held at 14:00 p.m. on 14 May.  As Department for Environmental Expert Assessment of Nature Protection Ministry told EcoLur, the electronic version of the project is lacking and everybody can examine the project on the spot. Thus, despite many assurances made by the Ministry about displaying projects in electronic format on the website for raising public awareness and increasing transparency, the field of mining remains to be closed.

In this very case, the public concern is connected with the fact that the Nature Protection Ministry has accepted the documents from the company for its consideration, which is going to mine gold, i.e. to deal with strategic raw materials and has no website or the electronic version of the project. The hearings on the strategic reserves of the gold are held in a small village, while general public has no opportunity to deal with the project.
