American Organizations Also Involved in Researching Construction of New Nuclear Power Plant in Armenia: TAI Deputy Minister

ARMENPRESS։ American organizations are also involved in technical and economic feasibilily studies of the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Armenia, but cooperation with Russia is also ongoing, as Hakob Vardanyan, RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, noted.

Regarding the issue, Hakob Vardanyan stated: "Within the framework of the construction of a new nuclear power unit/power units in Armenia, technical and economic feasibility studies are being carried out, in which American organizations are also involved. Formulated approaches and ideas on the topic were conveyed to them. We do not consider it appropriate at this stage to publicize information on the directions and scope of possible cooperation with the US."

"The cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation is continuous and currently takes place in a number of directions in the field of energy. Cooperation with any state is not considered and cannot be considered to the detriment of another state," the Deputy Minister outlined.

The US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien announced that the US is willing to support the development of atomic energy and energy security in Armenia.
