Armenian Nuclear Power Plant Disconnected from Power System in Emergency Stop Mode

On August 30, around 9:55 p.m., the Armenian nuclear power plant was disconnected from the power system in emergency shutdown mode, as the Armenian Atomic Power Plant informs.

The cause of the stop was a lightning strike, as a result of which the station's security systems brought the station to a safe stop mode.

"At the moment, the staff is busy with relaunching the station. This is another proof that the large-scale modernization works carried out in recent years, including the security systems, were effective and gave the expected result. The security systems are extremely sensitive and respond to any situation," the official press release says.
