A seminar dedicated to the development of technical solutions and technologies for nuclear back-end management took place in Yerevan, organized by Rosatom, Russia’s state atomic energy corporation. The event brought together over 50 experts from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan to discuss innovations and challenges in handling radioactive waste.
During the seminar, participants were given a technical tour of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) in Metsamor. The tour included in-depth discussions on the future development of infrastructure at the facility, specifically focusing on efficient and safe radioactive waste management.
The seminar highlighted Armenia’s efforts to modernize its nuclear facilities and adopt advanced technologies to ensure the safe handling of nuclear by-products. Experts exchanged insights on best practices and strategies to mitigate environmental risks associated with radioactive waste in the region.
Such collaborative events are crucial for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, which aim to enhance their nuclear safety standards and align with international practices in radioactive waste management. The discussions emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing shared challenges in nuclear safety and sustainability.
