20 officials granted with the powers for the preservation of the forest fund have been pressed with charges in different corruption-related abuses based on sufficient evidence as a result of detecting numerous cases of illegal forest felling. As RA Prosecutor’s Office informs, charges have been pressed to one Deputy Director of Forestry Enterprise, two forest rangers, and 17 foresters from different sections. They all have been pressed with charges in abuse of offices, official falsifications and official negligence.
The state has incurred damage of around 1.6 billion AMD as a result of regular corruption-relation criminal acts and illegal tree felling. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is in progress: all measures are taken to recover the damage caused to the state.
