Experiences in Womens Participation in Sustainable Water Management in EECCA Region

On 18 February 2021, the “Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment”
(AWHHE) conducted a final webinar to share experiences in implementation of the project “Enabling Women to Participate in Sustainable Water Management in Armenia”, funded by The United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF). 

The webinar topic was “Experiences in Womens Participation in Sustainable Water
Management in EECCA Region”. It was attended by representatives of NGOs from Ukraine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Bulgaria, “Women for Water Partnership” (WfWP), the Netherlands, UNECE Secretariat of the Protocol on Water and Health, the UNDEF Secretariat, local NGOs, communities of the Armavir, Ararat, Shirak and Lori provinces and mass media.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. Elena Manvelyan, President of the AWHHE NGO, thanked the UNDEF for its financial assistance and consultancy, as well as the municipalities and women of the target communities of the Ararat and Armavir Provinces for their active participation in the project implementation.

NGOs and experts representing the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) region made presentations and shared their experiences on equitable access to water and sanitation and tariff mechanisms; engagement of community women in the management and monitoring of irrigation water resources; and NGO responses to the COVID-19 challenges in project implementation.
