First Meeting Public Council Adjunct to Environment Minister Held

First Meeting Public Council Adjunct to Environment Minister Held

The first session of the newly formed Public Council under Environment Minister was held on March 5, 2020 at the Ministry of Environment.

It should be reminded that a new public council was established under the order of Environment Minister Romanos Petrosyan in order to ensure the full participation of civil society in the process of solving the problems of the Ministry of Environment, reforms and implementation of strategic programs.

Minister Romanos Petrosyan welcomed the new staff of the council and partners, thanked for the interest in the operations of the council ․

The main goal of forming a new public council under the Minister is to identify the existing environmental problems in our country, to inventory them, to develop proposals for local and global solutions, to come up with initiatives for legislative changes.

Any step that would lead to a more protected, more manageable, evolving environment is debatable within the working dimensions of the Public Council. Together we must discuss how we implement the methods and programs for solving problems that require solutions in the short-term, medium-term and strategic perspectives.

The members of the Board have a wide range of powers, which should be used to implement their advisory mandate on tense sectorial issues, issues having publicity, issues arising in force majeure situations.

The members of the council expressed hope that any systemic solution in the sphere should take place in the following triangle: society, public sector, and public administration body.
