Explanation by Environment Ministry on Leakage from Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine

RA Environment Ministry has clarified the issue of wastewater discharge from the territory of Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine located in Syunik Region.

 The monitoring specialists of "Hydrometeorological Monitoring Center" SNCO are at the scene, who are carrying out sampling works along the entire Aras River.

According to the information available at the moment, the sewage flowed only on an asphalt road (video is attached) and didn’t flow into the Aras River.

Currently, on the 381st km of Yerevan-Meghri-customs point M2, the road has been cleaned of wastewater containing chemical substances (photo is attached). The cleaning works continue. Environment Ministry is working with all stakeholders given this fact," the statement says.
