Armenia will have a systematic metal mining data discovery platform. It will be created in accordance with the Standard of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). In the session of May 2, 2024, the executive decided to apply to the World Bank with a proposal to extend the project completion period from March 31, 2024 to December 31, 2024. In the justification of the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, the Secretariat of the EITI under the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia stated:
“1. The final stage of the summary of the results of the tender conducted on the basis of the approved technical task and with the request for the purchase of "Systematic Data Discovery Software Package" approved by the World Bank is underway. According to the preliminary evaluation, the winning professional company of the competition will be selected and a corresponding contract will be signed with it in June 2024, and the works will be completed until December 15, as a result of which Armenia will have a portal through which the data disclosed through new IT solutions in the authorized bodies possessing relevant primary information of the mining industry will be available to the public with open data formats from one place.”
Reminder: as a result of the second ratification of Armenia, the EITI International Council adopted a decision to award Armenia a high score for implementing the 2019 EITI Standard (89.5 points).
The EITI is a global standard promoting the open and accountable management of natural resources with 57 member countries (as of May 2023).
Armenia started the EITI membership process back in 2015.
