"Construction of New Nuclear Power Unit" CJSC will be established to manage the project for the construction of a new nuclear power unit (power units) in the Republic of Armenia.
According to the preliminary estimate, the budget of the newly established company will be 200,000,000 AMD for 2024.
At the session of the Government of the Republic of Armenia TAI Minister Gnel Sanosyan stated that "In our strategy for the energy sector until 2024, we have a new power unit, at least of the same capacity, on the site of the existing nuclear power plant in the adjacent area, after the expiration of the term of the existing nuclear power plant, which will continue to work like a new nuclear power plant."
"In order to implement the project of building a new nuclear power unit in Armenia more institutionally and systematically, it is proposed to establish a company in line with the Milestones in the Development of a National Infrastructure for Nuclear Power. No. G-G-3.1 (Rev. 1) guidelines published by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The above-mentioned company should conduct a comparative study between all proposed technologies and feasibility studies, based on which it will present its professional proposal on the choice of technology, which should be a comprehensively substantiated document.
According to an approximate estimate, the company will need an annual budget of around 800 million AMD during the preparatory phase of technology selection and unit construction.
After the resolution of the government, this company should become the structure that will carry out the entire construction process as an implementing ordering and monitoring body, after which this company will become the new operator of the new nuclear power unit, after the government's decision, they will carry out the entire process themselves.
