The increase of green zones is one of the main problems in Yerevan. A number of parts of the city's parks have been leased since the 1990s to various individuals who not only do not maintain and improve the areas but are absent from the country.
"Contracts with unscrupulous tenants who are unable to properly fulfill their contractual obligations should be reviewed and terminated. The city is ready to return the territories, improve them and hand them over to the population," Armen Pambukhchyan, Yerevan's first Deputy Mayor, emphasized.
